Hello Everyone -
I hope your holidays were peaceful and filled with joy. I am sorry to have missed our last meeting, but thankful so many of the group members were able to help out in my absence. Many thanks to Heather and Dallen from Takeda Oncology for coming to the group with updates on Ninlaro (ixazomib). So as to not share my illness, it was best I stayed home.
To kick off the new year, I am very excited to share that Dr. Martha Lacy from the Mayo Clinic-Rochester Myeloma/Amyloid/Disproteinemia group (and personal friend of mine) will be joining us! She will be available to answer general Multiple Myeloma questions and to provide an overview of key clinical trials from the 57th Annual American Society of Hematology meeting held December 2015 in Orlando. It is an honor and a privilege to have her attend our group. It may be cold out, but we will have hot coffee and great discussion to keep us warm. I hope to see you there.
Dr. Martha Lacy
FACILITATOR: Teresa Miceli, RN BSN OCN
TIME & LOCATION - We are meeting at the Gift of Life Transplant House, 705-2nd street location (north side/old house) from 10:00 AM to Noon. Multiple myeloma survivors, caregivers, family and friends are welcome. Please join the group. Light refreshments provided by Takeda Oncology, meeting space provided by the Gift of Life Transplant House, educational materials provided by the IMF.
HELPING HANDS - I typically arrive around 9:00/9:15 to arrange chairs, set up food and lay out materials. For future meetings, if anyone is able to plan in advance to assist with set up, please let me know. If you are unable to arrive early, assistance with clean up afterwards is just as helpful.
This sharing group holds free meetings for multiple myeloma patients and their families. We offer the opportunity for informal discussions and questions, and occasionally have invited speakers to provide information about various topics related to the cancer experience.
