As 2015 comes to a close, I want to thank you for spending some of your time with me and the members of the Rochester MMSS. Our monthly meetings are inspiring, educational, and most of all a time to share and laugh together. I look forward to our monthly gatherings in 2016 and hope to see you there as your schedule allows.
But wait, we still have one more meeting for 2015! And it has been a "November to Remember" with the approval of 3 new drugs in the world of Multiple Myeloma. So far, I have confirmed representatives from Takeda will be at the meeting to share information about #ixazomib, or Ninlaro, the newly approved oral proteasome inhibitor (like Velcade). We will also discuss the two monoclonal antibodies, #daratumumab and elotuzumab, newly approved, and have open discussion.
I know it is a busy time of year, but please take a couple of hours for yourself to be inspired. In any event, be safe and well this holiday season.
Happy Holidays from me to you,
FACILITATOR: Teresa Miceli, RN BSN OCN
TIME & LOCATION - We are meeting at the Gift of Life Transplant House, 705-2nd street location (north side/old house) from 10:00 AM to Noon. Multiple myeloma survivors, caregivers, family and friends are welcome. Please join the group. Light refreshments provided by Takeda Oncology, meeting space provided by the Gift of Life Transplant House, educational materials provided by the IMF.
HELPING HANDS - I typically arrive around 9:00/9:15 to arrange chairs, set up food and lay out materials. For future meetings, if anyone is able to plan in advance to assist with set up, please let me know. If you are unable to arrive early, assistance with clean up afterwards is just as helpful.
This sharing group holds free meetings for multiple myeloma patients and their families. We offer the opportunity for informal discussions and questions, and occasionally have invited speakers to provide information about various topics related to the cancer experience.
