Our next meeting will be this Saturday, August 19, 2017. We will have Open Discussion, allowing for the conversation to flow in many different directions based on what people have on their mind.
For those who attended our last meeting of the MMSS Saturday, July 15th, you were able to meet a couple of special guests - Page Bertolotti and Thomas Goode - from the Celgene Ambassador Program. Thomas shared his personal 11-year story of living with multiple myeloma and being “stronger than cancer”. At the age of 44, he has undergone multiple transplants, but if you saw him walk down the street, you might think he was doing a photo shoot for Sports Illustrated! Page is a veteran oncology nurse who shared valuable information to help better understand the diagnosis and treatment. I thank them both for their time, energy and important message.
FACILITATOR: Teresa Miceli, RN BSN OCN
TIME & LOCATION - We are meeting at the Gift of Life Transplant House, 705-2nd street location (north side/old house) from 10:00 AM to Noon. Multiple myeloma survivors, caregivers, family and friends are welcome. Please join the group. Light refreshments provided by Takeda Oncology, meeting space provided by the Gift of Life Transplant House, educational materials provided by the IMF.
HELPING HANDS - I typically arrive around 9:00/9:15 to arrange chairs, set up food and lay out materials. For future meetings, if anyone is able to plan in advance to assist with set up, please let me know. If you are unable to arrive early, assistance with clean up afterwards is just as helpful.
This sharing group holds free meetings for multiple myeloma patients and their families. We offer the opportunity for informal discussions and questions, and occasionally have invited speakers to provide information about various topics related to the cancer experience.
